I see this place as a bar that sells gimmicky tacos. And I know that makes it the perfect spot for a lot of people. The taco ideas are ambitious, but the reliability of the food on the plate is lacking. The practical matter of getting an order placed once you're inside deteriorates later at night. It's not a hard "no" but surely not a first choice.
They can never get my order correct. I ask for simple modifications and I can never get what exactly what I order.
I absolutely love velvet taco, but unfortunately this location does not meet that same standards as the domain location. I ordered the brisket nachos last night and they gave me FOOD POISONING :( and yes I went though everything I ate yesterday and the only thing that was different then what my partner ate (who is completely fine) was velvet taco. It’s really a shame that I’m going to have to say goodbye to one of my faves. I’ll spare yall the graphic details but this is a MAJOR HEALTH ISSUE. Hopefully it is not E.coli or salmonella.
Another update: I fondly remember getting cheese quesadillas here late at night while pregnant and it hit the spot!! I'm glad we can all find something we like to eat here. Update: Updating to 5 stars. I gave them another shot and dined in person. The kids chicken quesadilla was exactly what I was craving and I'm glad I could have it so late at night when most other restaurants are closed. The red velvet cake was pretty great!! Original review: Sorry y'all for giving you your first 1 star review at the new Round Rock location. I'm sure it will be better another time, I'm just in such a bad mood because my mouth feels like it's on fire because I got the wrong tacos and I can't stand spicy food. We get there and are excited to try their drive thru because we have limited time. The street planning is really poor. You have to block the street to wait in line behind just one car. How this was designed, built, and opened like this in 2023, I don't understand. Then we have to wait in curbside pickup spaces like the others who ordered theirs via drive thru. The signs at curbside pickup are misleading and look like you have to go inside to pickup your food. They bring us our tacos and we drive home. We try to find out which one is Fish & Chips and Medi Mushroom. Turns out, we got two Paneer tacos, one Tikka Chicken taco, and one we don't know what it's called, but spicy beef taco. It's impossible to open the containers without pushing the bottom inwards. I tried so many utensils. A new design for that may be warranted if we're not the only ones. I didn't know the paneer taco wasn't the fish & chips until half way through, I saw there was no way this was fish and the topping was all wrong compared to the taco I just had at the downtown velvet taco. I ate it anyway, as it was fine. I get to what I thought was Medi Mushroom and I brush off as many avocados and red bell pepper as I can. Weird, I thought, as I don't remember those on the taco. If I knew, I wouldn't have ordered it. Then I take a bite and end up politely spitting it out. "What kind of mushroom is that?!" I thought. I hated the taste and I figured it was lamb because the Medi Mushroom is Mediterranean, and I'm repulsed by lamb meat. I hand the rest to my husband and he says it's a beef fajita taco and offers some of his chicken Tikka which he says is tasty. I'm done trying new tacos I didn't order. Good thing I'm not a vegetarian and don't have any allergies! They literally left me a poor taste in my mouth and I had to drink a milky latte as I typed this to get rid of it.
